WHAT WE DO
Theatre Booking Services (“TBS”), and its independent theatre partners, are part of one of the most recognizable industries in the world…
-
Our Product is a motion picture, the world’s greatest storytelling medium
-
Our Partners are independent theatres owned and operated by private companies, city governments, public school districts, colleges and universities, and community-owned non-profit organizations
-
Our Job is to provide professional film buying services that acquires content from Hollywood studios and brings it to their screens
Each week since 1975, we have intelligently put our industry experience to work reviewing all available content, scrutinizing projected boxoffice expectations and researching comparable titles for each theatre, in order to book content that will deliver maximum revenue opportunities to our partners.
We are always strong advocates for independent theatre owners, negotiating the best possible scheduling and business terms with film distributors and providing our partners with advisory services.
OUR MISSION
We understand the best thing we can do to make sure our partners and their communities continue to thrive, is help them generate strong financial performance…even not-for-profit organizations need to generate revenue.
We believe our relationship with independent theatre owners is a partnership, and doing our part means providing our clients with the best content available, at the best terms available; and sharing insights, information, analysis and data in support of them operating a successful and consumer-relevant business. We are guided by four principles: work together, encourage each other, communicate regularly, and have fun!
OUR INDUSTRY
TBS, and its independent theatre partners, are part of one of the greatest, most recognizable industries in the world. Our product is a motion picture, the world’s greatest storytelling medium, and it changes every week.
The year kicked off with Jan up a promising +6% vs last year, followed up with Feb crushing it by +28%, then Mar collapsed, plummeting -37% and dragging the entire Q1 from being up +15% to being down -9% year-over-year.
Q2 looks to offer an embarrassing wealth of content riches, both in Quantity and Quality. Megaplexes need content like air, so they will be breathing MUCH easier; smaller complexes will have a tough time digesting all the content and may be forced into some difficult decisions as to which titles to open on the break, which ones to play post-break, and which ones they may simply not be able to work into the lineup…a wonderful problem to have.
Key titles on the slate include, Minecraft, Thunderbolts, Lilo & Stitch, Mission: Impossible, Karate Kid, How to Train Your Dragon, Elio, F1, Jurassic World Rebirth.
Other titles to keep a close eye on include, King of Kings, Warfare, The Amateur, Sinners, The Accountant 2, Legend of Ochi, Last Rodeo, Ballerina, and 28 Years Later.
Oh, and offering a sneak peek to Q3, we have Superman, Smurfs, Fantastic Four, Bad Guys 2, Naked Gun, and Freakier Friday…a welcome steady supply of content through Aug.
Although Q1 finds us running behind -9% last year, Q2 should more than make up for lost ground, with the possibility of rocketing up +20% vs last year. End of year projections are holding firm, pointing to ‘25 topping $9.5B, an increase of a very healthy +10% vs last year.

IMPORTANT INDUSTRY RESOURCES
WHO WE ARE
About Us
TBS has been providing professional film buying and advisory services to independent theatre owners since 1975. We recognize and take seriously the important role our partner’s theatre plays in contributing to the livelihood of their community and family.
For guests attending independently owned theatres, the experience is about MORE than just the movie, it represents an audience full of neighbors and friends, showing up every Saturday night, even if they aren’t especially excited about what’s on screen; sure, the movie is important, but an evening-out at these theatres represents so much more.
