Screening Notes

Veteran actors, familiar faces, fun storyline, PG13 rating, and a crisp 107-minute run time...what’s not to like. This isn’t Academy Award winning material, but it is a simple feel-good, playful comedy that audiences will enjoy.

Boxoffice Estimate

Grace & Frankie, The Crown, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Morning Show, Big Little Lies, 80 for Brady, Ticket To Paradise, Everything Everywhere…content with strong “older” (apologies, Julia R) female leads is in demand with audiences 50+ and Mother’s Day weekend the perfect release date.

Over the past 5 years, May releases have averaged a $31.6M opening weekend, with Comedies during this period averaging $21.9M; the Comparison Title set has averaged $12.7M. Modeling projects Book Club 2 yielding an opening weekend totaling $14M, with a range between $13M and $16M…this is 14% greater than the Comp Titles but 33% less than Comedies released in May. The total multiple of 3.8x is in line with the Comps and points to a final gross estimate of between $49M and $60M.
